GOOD NEWS!! Debbie arrived yesterday from Illinois. She will be staying in Phoenix with Ed’s sister Bev until Ed comes down on Tuesday. She and Ed will be seeing a doctor on Tuesday at Good Sam Hospital to learn of there options. Since our last update Debbie found out that the round “B” of chemo did its job and her “blast" count showed 0% cancer cells. They are still saying she will need to have a donor bone marrow transplant in order for her to get her Leukemia into remission. The trip home was really rough on Debbie and today she did not feel like having visitors. We are not certain yet when she will be going home to Vernon. That will depend on the meeting with the doctor on Tuesday.
If you have already mailed cards or packages to Illinois, they said they will forward her mail to her in Vernon. Debbie’s mailing address in Vernon is: P.O. Box 188, Vernon, AZ 85940. She still really perks up when she gets cards or letters from family or friends. Please remember her in your thoughts and prayers. She will be facing some pretty tough decisions in the next week or two as to where she goes from here. She and Ed will surely need to be guided from above.

Since Donna is in Illinois with Debbie she asked me to update you all on her sister. The last few days have not gone very good. She has needed several units of platelets and blood. She has no energy and sleeps most of the time. They are planning on doing a bone marrow biopsy probably this Friday and that she will probably need to stay for another week minimum. Donna will be flying home Tuesday. Ed’s sister Bev will come out on Tuesday to be with Debbie in Illinois.
It still really lifts Debbie when she gets a card from somebody. Please continue to include her in your prayers. Again I will attach her address so you can send her a card or letter.

Since Donna is in Illinois with Debbie she asked me to update you all on her sister. This last week has been a little bit better for Debbie. She has still felt nauseated but has had some appetite. Yesterday they gave her what they said will be her last chemo pills. Today she may be getting some fresh blood since her counts are still really low. They are telling her that next Wednesday or Thursday they will do a bone marrow biopsy and that she will probably need to stay for another one or two weeks. Donna will be flying home Sunday, Monday, or Tuesday. We still don’t know who will come out next to be with Debbie in Illinois.
REMINDER: Mendie is putting together a fundraiser on October 9th. I will follow with more information as I receive it. Thanks again for all your prayers and best wishes. The cards & letters have been very good for her.

I wanted to update you all on what is happening with my sister. This last week has been really rough for Debbie. She has felt really sick and has not wanted to eat and has been nauseated. Yesterday they gave her 2 units of blood and today she has felt better. Tomorrow they will be giving her the last of the part “B” chemotherapy into her spine. This is rough because they make her lie flat on her back for about 3 hours. Janice is flying home on Tuesday and I’m Flying back on Tuesday. We still don’t know what comes next or how much longer she will be in Illinois.

I wanted to update you all on what is happening with my sister. She completed the part A chemotherapy and had a bone marrow biopsy to determine whether all the cancer was killed. The results of the biopsy showed that the majority of the cancer is gone but not all. Because there are still un-killed cancer cells she will start today with the part B chemotherapy which will run until Thursday. At that point they will test again. Ed came home today and Janice went back today. She will stay a week and then I will go back for a week. They are telling us the part B will be really rough on Debbie. They are telling us that the best case scenario is for her to be in Illinois for two more weeks and then she will be able to come back home to rest and then will probably need a bone marrow transplant which can be done here in Arizona.

I wanted to update you all on Debbie’s condition. Debbie has completed the first phase of the chemotherapy treatment. I spoke with her today and she was feeling pretty good. On Tuesday they will do a bone marrow biopsy to determine if the chemotherapy has killed the Philadelphia strain. The outcome of the biopsy will determine the course of treatments she will continue to receive. Please continue to keep her in your thoughts and prayers as this is a critical time for her.
She is not sure when she will be allowed to come home. I’m sure she would love to get a card or letter to let her know we love her.
